Wielen (“Wheels”) is a short story following a pair of twins as they grow up – one with a disability and the other without. They explore various modes of transportation (scooter, bike, wheelchair) and constantly challenge each other to see who’s the fastest.
This tale encourages a light-hearted and playful dialogue with children about disabilities, highlighting the differences and similarities between kids who have them and those who don’t. It’s available as a (free) workshop for elementary schools.
This project was commissioned by Veld van Bloemen and Stichting Voorall.
We’ve drawn the boys nearly identically, the only difference being the colors of their clothes.
