Wine writer Simon J. Woolf invited us to design his book “Amber Revolution”: the story of orange wine, the world’s oldest and most distinct wine style.
Our cover design (with Eyal’s own fist as model) communicates the idea of rediscovery and going against the flow; the numerous hand-drawn illustrations and watercolours harmonize with the traditional techniques, and the legible typography makes the book read smoothly, like a novel.
The beautiful photography in Amber Revolution is by Ryan Opaz.
Amber Revolution is winner of Roederer Wine Book of the Year Award 2019, Selected New York Times Best Wine Book of 2018, Forbes magazine Notable Wine Book of 2018, and Star Tribune Great Wine Book 2018.

For this book we hand-drew over a hundred maps and illustrations in watercolour and charcoal.
This project followed a successful Kickstarter campaign. Backers could receive Myrthe’s signed, limited edition A2 “Revolution Sun” art print as a gift.
Another option was her watercolour Wine Hills, below, which is now featured on an endpaper inside the book.
The book has been translated into many languages with a modified, localized design.
“I just want to pause and raise a hat (...)
The design and layout, Eyal and Myrthe, is outstanding. I love the cover. Strong, defiant, modern, retro, ancient, textured, shiny, matt, shocking, victorious – it says everything.”
